Things to do...

From the highest village in the Highlands to the gentle tranquillity and mystery of tiny towns nestling on the banks of the river Spey, choose your own ideal and find it perfectly realised in Aviemore and the Cairngorms.

Nurseries, gardens, arboretums and the ancient and beautiful Caledonian Forest. The only place in the UK to see herds of shy, soft, gentle reindeer. Folk museums and contemporary art galleries. Craft workshops to kart racing. Unique and very Scottish railway experiences. Activity centres and children's play areas. Breweries, distilleries, restaurants and pubs. Guided walking and climbing. Ski-ing, skating and snowboarding. And everything in between. What there isn't to do here, isn't worth doing. And what you can't see, you really don't need to see. This is the perfect place to make your ideal holiday, create your own experience and make every moment really work, while you really play.

Outdoor Activities...
Aviemore lies right at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park , a true wilderness experience, so it's the perfect place to start an active outdoor holiday. There are mountains to climb or ski, forests to explore, rivers and lochs to navigate, kayak, canoe or fish for salmon in the River Spey, golf courses to challenge and relax, white waters to raft, quad biking, off road driving, clay pigeon shooting, skating, archery and countless, endless, unbelievably beautiful walks almost everywhere you go. Peace and tranquillity are part of the package, adventure comes as standard and everything lies at the heart of the perfection that is the Cairngorms.

Wildlife...
Although perhaps most famous for 'Operation Osprey' which helped re-establish Ospreys in Scotland, this area of Scotland's reputation for natural heritage conservation is almost unriavelled in the UK. A little patience, a little luck and a lot of peace and quiet will reward even the most inexperienced wildlife watcher with glimpses of the rare, lovely or just downright cute. From otters, badgers, pine martens and Scottish wildcat to vast herds of red deer, all of Britain's grouse species, the protected red squirrel, eagles, falcons, buzzards and, of course, osprey. Bring binoculars, be prepared to wait - the soft air and gentle silence akes time slip by unnoticed - and you won't be disappointed.

Culture in Scotland ...
Home to the Strathspey Reel; forget spin classes this is really the way to work every muscle group, and it's fun. Land of shinty, Scotland's unique national sport. And the place to find the River Spey, renowned for its salmon and a completely individual way of fishing it; Spey Casting. Unsurprisingly the local whisky is well worth a dram or two. Aberdeen Angus beef, wild venison and freshly caught local fish, make eating out and shopping for local produce an experience you won't foget. And local villages, towns and resorts all have a completely idiosyncratic atmosphere, their own particular identity, customs, traditions, festivals and sense of fun making it completely impossible to decide which is best, so it's best just to enjoy it all.
